History

In late 1965, a group of people representing local Kent/ Portage County businesses and civic organizations were invited to meet at Kent State University. This was triggered by evidence gathered from a student survey depicting key areas of concern for older adults. Proactive citizens organized and obtained Federal money under a Title III grant with a mission of assisting the over-60 population of Portage County to remain independent and active within their own homes and communities by providing services to assist them in their daily lives.

The Adult Day Care Program was instituted in 1984. As the program began to flourish, the agency, then named Portage Area Senior Services Inc. (PASS), moved headquarters twice in the eighty's and ninety's to accommodate clients and their needs.

In 2009, Coleman Adult Day Services opened a second location on The Campus of Anna Maria of Aurora.  This location will serve the residents of northern Portage County, as well as the neighboring communities in Geauga, Cuyahoga and Summit counties.

Coleman Adult Day Services resides in the state-of-the-art facility, Burbick at Coleman, located at 6695 North Chestnut Street in Ravenna, and also in Aurora at 889 North Aurora Road, on The Campus of Anna Maria of Aurora.
