Adult Day Center Receives Dementia Education Grant
Ravenna, Ohio (May 15, 2013) – Coleman Adult Day Services, provider of adult day care and daytime health care and social activities for adults with dementia and developmental disabilities, received $7,500 in grant funding from the Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation.
The grant provides funding for Coleman Adult Day to offer educational seminars on the bereavement process associated with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Seminars will be free of charge and open to anyone whose life has been impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia.
“We are extremely grateful to the Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation for awarding Coleman Adult Day Services this grant,” said Janet Phelps, Coleman Adult Day Services Chief Officer. “We want to be a resource for people in Portage County who are caregivers to a loved one with dementia or a developmental disability and these educational seminars are just one way we can help.”
Coleman Adult Day Services offers a dementia support group for family members, friends and caregivers whose lives have been affected by a dementia-related illness including Alzheimer’s. The support group is open to the entire Portage County community and general public. Meetings start at 3:30 pm and are held at Coleman Adult Day Services 6695 N. Chestnut Street in Ravenna. Ravenna Adult Day Care Center Offers Dementia Support Group
Coleman Adult Day Services, provider of adult day care and daytime health care and social activities for adults with dementia and developmental disabilities, offers a dementia support group for family members, friends and caregivers whose lives have been affected by a dementia-related illness including Alzheimer’s. The support group is open to the entire Portage County community and general public
“A recent report by the Alzheimer’s Association found that there are already 5.2 million Americans that have Alzheimer’s or other form of dementia,” said Janet Phelps, Coleman Adult Day Services Chief Officer. “Even more shocking is the Association’s prediction of that number increasing to 13.8 million by 2050,” she continued. “We want to be a resource for people in Portage County who are caregivers to a loved one with dementia or developmental disability and our dementia support group is just one way we can help.”
Dementia support group meetings run for one hour and are held the third Thursday of every month, beginning at 3:30 pm. Meetings are held at Coleman Adult Day Services 6695 N. Coleman Adult Day Services Expands Free Trial Visit Program
Ravenna, Ohio (March 18, 2013) – Coleman Adult Day Services, provider of daytime health care and social activities to impaired and older adults, is pleased to announce the expansion of their free trial visit program.
The new free trial visit program allows potential participants to attend for two full weeks free of charge on a space available basis. Frequency and duration of visits during the two-week trial are flexible; participants can come every day, all day for two weeks or once for a few hours. Visitors are welcome to take full advantage of all of Coleman Adult Day’s services including:
“We expanded the free trial visit program because we want to make enrollment into our program as easy and smooth as possible for both caregivers and participants,” said Janet Phelps, Coleman Adult Day Services Chief Officer. “The free trial visit provides a wonderful opportunity to experience our services first-hand and see if we are a fit for their needs.”
Coleman Adult Day Service is dedicated to preserving the dignity of older adults with emphasis on those with cognitive, physical or developmental challenges.
